The Blueberrys Cafe Story

Liam and Claire bought Blueberrys Cafe in April 2017. Claire’s parents had
recently retired and so they were enlisted to help out. Mum baking the cakes,
just a few family favourites to begin with and Dad doing the shopping and
washing up when needed!

Blueberrys Cafe wasn’t really established when they first took it over and so
the first few weeks were spent sitting outside enjoying the view with a book
and a coffee but worrying that they had made a huge mistake and whether
there would be any customers at all.

Thankfully though, customers did begin to show and Blueberrys now has
many regulars, some local and some who visit each time they visit the Isle of
Wight. Being a family-run business, the aim is that every customer is
welcomed and made to feel like a part of the Blueberrys family.

Over the past few years, the selection of homemade cakes has soared.
Blueberrys now has over 215 flavours, some of them tried and tested old
family favourites and others newer and more experimental, but they are all still
homemade at Blueberrys, an extensive sweet treat collection is now also
available. Blueberrys also sells whole cakes and sweet
treats too for any special occasion that you may be celebrating. This all keeps Claire extremely busy!

As Blueberrys has grown busier, so has the team. Ben who joined in March
2021 as a Level 2 Production Chef Apprentice qualified in June 2022 and has
now completed his Level 3. This year, 2024, Ben will be leading the kitchen. Mason joined in April 2021 and has now completed
his Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship. Mason is always seen front of house alongside Liam and is loved by all of the Blueberrys regulars.

Liam and Claire are both extremely proud of their
young, hard-working team including the school age team members who are
with us during the weekends and school holidays, without them Blueberrys
Cafe wouldn’t be the same.

Blueberrys aim to provide great, tasty homemade food at a beautiful location
and with friendly and warm customer service, comments about which are
often featured in their TripAdvisor and Google reviews. Early November 2022,
Blueberrys received the Gold Award for Best Café/Tearoom in the Red Funnel
Awards, so a massive thank you to everyone who voted for Blueberrys. This award was joined in 2023 with the Silver Award. For the past 6 years, Blueberrys has received the Traveller’s Choice award form Trip Advisor.

Liam and Claire are always looking for ways to move forward and this website
is the next chapter for Blueberrys. With our online shop available you will
always be able to get a ‘quick fix’. You may not be able to order a cake
delivery (yet) but you can order your favourite cake-scented candles to keep
you going until your next visit.

Thank you for reading the Blueberrys story and all of the team hope to see
you very soon.

Liam, Claire and the team.
